My platform is based on the principles our founders relied on to form our government. The role of government is to protect and secure our rights; not to right every wrong, fix every problem, nor to regulate every aspect of our lives.
A strict construction of the Constitution limits the size and scope of government. I favor minimal, equitable, and fair taxation for the essential functions of government. I will apply this principle in my service on the City Council by only voting for those things that are essential to the role of the city government.
A strict construction of the Bill of Rights is a defense against tyranny. I favor the expansion of those rights to all voluntary consensual conduct under the Ninth and Tenth Amendments. Nanny state regulations are always bad for the economy and only restrict our rights as free individuals. The role of the city government is not to restrict individual rights, but rather to protect them.
I oppose restrictions on the voluntary and honest exchange of value in a free market. In my service to the city of Rancho Cucamonga I will always favor fair, open, honest competition among market participants. Government should never be used to favor one business or group over another, but rather should protect individuals and businesses from fraud, corruption, and graft. This is easily achieved by maintaining transparency and limiting the scope of government to only protecting rights, not providing every possible public need.
